About NSF STRIVE

NSF STRIVE is a civic-minded STEM initiative focused on strengthening research capacity, workforce development, and educational programming across Vermont. Through inclusive, statewide collaboration, NSF STRIVE works to advance equitable STEM learning pathways to support innovation in response to Vermont’s evolving economic and community needs.

NSF STRIVE is a partnership between Landmark College, Bennington College, the Community College of Vermont, and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation. The initiative is made possible by a federal investment through the U.S. National Science Foundation and aligned with broader efforts to expand opportunity, build institutional capacity, and strengthen Vermont’s innovation economy.

NSF STRIVE is proud to be part of the Vermont Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VT EPSCoR).

As part of a multiyear strategic plan developed to address EPSCoR priorities in relation to Vermont’s specific needs, NSF STRIVE aims to expand and strengthen the research capacity of institutions across the state, fueling innovation and contributing to scientific discovery.

This work is underway in part through NSF STRIVE’s long-term commitment to supporting the creation of sustainable STEM education pathways, aligned with jurisdiction-specific research initiatives.

Central to this effort is a focus on inclusion and the broadening of participation across diverse individuals, institutions, and organizations—bringing new perspectives, expanding the reach of STEM initiatives for our students, and strengthening connections to the national research community.

Together, these priorities advance research, education, and economic development beyond any single project, enhancing Vermonters’ ability to contribute to growth in the academic, government, and private-sector contexts.
